Middleton Hall Care Home, Middleton - Enter and View Report
Healthwatch Rochdale visited Middleton Hall Care Home on 24th February 2026 as part of a programme of announced Enter and View visits to care homes in the Rochdale borough. The home was notified of our visit in advance by letter and by email. The manager was given a two-week time frame and informed that the visit could take place at any time within that time frame.
Positive highlights of the visit
✓ Good retention of staff
✓ The manager and staff team were welcoming, open and accommodating
✓ Home was well maintained and decorated internally
✓ Accessible, clean, tidy and had a neutral smell
✓ Residents seemed “content” and had a variety of things to do
✓ Lots of visitors
Recommendations
The Enter and View visit identified the following areas for improvement and therefore recommends:
1. Residents are reminded that the hairdresser is in throughout the session to minimise confusion around changes to their routine and use of the lounge.
2. That the monthly overview menus are updated and visibly displayed with the relevant month and menu choices for the residents.
3. The garden area is used more evidently as part of the activity programme and for health and safety reasons that the flooring is cleared alongside being power washed. Adding some bird feeders and plants to areas for stimulation and as a focal point.
4. A new sign is installed at the front of the home building to clearly identify the residential home and ensure people know that it is the right place.
5. That signs include images for ease of understanding for residents and that all are laminated for longevity.
